What we do

*Chain of Hope Jamaica has supported over 800 surgical interventions at BHC since 2007 and has facilitated the treatment of approximately 400 more children with the help of our overseas partners. So far over 1200 children have been treated with the assistance of The mending little hearts programme, Chain of Hope Jamaica works in conjunction with Gift of Life International and Rotary International. 

Chain of Hope Jamaica’s primary goal is to develop a sustainable paediatric cardiac service at Bustamante Hospital for Children.

The Foundation is working to do this in the following ways:

1. Facilitate the training and development of skilled cardiac clinicians and support staff
2. Partner with international donor organizations to mobilize specialized treatments overseas
3. Partner with corporate foundations, companies, humanitarian service clubs and other friends of the hospital to attract financial support for well needed cardiac surgeries
4. Seek out donations of cardiac equipment and disposables to use in treating children with congenital heart defects
5. Coordinate visiting surgical team visits to support the hospital’s cardiology and cardiothoracic teams
6. Attract project funding to assist with maintaining project infrastructure and operational activities
7. Provide consumables and equipment for surgeries to take place by Bustamante Team
8. Provide Supplementary staff to allow surgeries and effective post-operative care to take place
